How Big Brother Naija turned Career path for Nigerian youths

Big Brother Naija is a Nigerian reality TV show, in which contestants live in an isolated house without any form of communication to the outside world and compete for a large cash prize and other material gifts at the end of the show by avoiding eviction from the show by the viewers.

The first-ever season of the show was aired on DSTV Channel 37 from March 5 to June 4, 2006. The first season winner was Katung Aduwak and since then there have been three other winners from the other three seasons that have followed. It took another eleven years for the next season of the show which was themed “See Gobe” was aired on the 22nd January 2017 where Micheal Efe Ejeba emerged as the winner after seventy-seven days in the Big Brother house.

The third season for the show came immediately after the second season and was aired on the 28th of January 2018, and Miracle Igbokwe emerged as the winner after 85 days in the Big Brother house. Season 4 was aired on June 30, 2019 where Mercy Eke emerged winner after 99 days in the Big Brother house and season 5 of the show saw “Olamilekan Laycon Agbelese” crowned as the winner.

The Winners

Big Brother Naija show has been a life-changing turning point for many people that have been involved in the reality tv show. BBNaija Season 2 winner popularly known as Michael Efe Ejeba got a turnaround when he was awarded a cash price of N25 Million and has since gone on to grab various deals and finance his music career.

BBNaija Season 3 winner Michael Efe Ejeba won N45 Million worth of prize and went on to obtain certification as an ‘Instrument Rated’ Pilot from US aviation school. Miracle had earlier told fans that he aims to win the prize money in other to get training to become a professional and commercial pilot.

BBNaija Season 4 edition came with its own fair share of entertainment and controversies. Mercy Eke emerged the winner becoming the first female to win the reality tv show. She went home with N60 Million worth of prizes.

BBNaija Season 5 edition came at a time Nigerians and Africans needed it the most. The show served as entertainment for viewers during the lockdown period. Laycon emerged the inner and went home with the grand prize of N85 million worth of prizes.

The Other Winners

Ever Since Big Brother Naija show was first aired, it has been a career-defining moment for ex-housemate, ninja, host and others who participated in the show one way or the other. It’ll be hard to name an Ex housemate that didn’t get at least an endorsement deal after participating in big brother naija reality tv show.
